When I was first approached by DISCO to become its Vice President of Marketing, I was intrigued by DISCO’s innovative vision and strategy. Having been intimately involved in the legal technology industry for more than 17 years, it struck me that the expectations created by companies selling legal tech products to lawyers and litigation support professionals has rarely, if ever, met the reality of their experience using those products.
For a long time most law firms and general counsel had to make do with complex and often clumsy enterprise legal technology in order to keep up with the explosion of electronic information. But as consumer software technologies have become an integral part of our daily lives, our expectations have dramatically changed. Applications such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google and more raise the bar by delivering information instantly - anytime, from anywhere, on any device - without the need to read a manual or go through training to find it.
However, the reality of using legal technology still lags behind the expectations created by the latest technology innovations enjoyed by most consumers and business professionals. DISCO is challenging this “status quo” by offering innovative solutions that genuinely match today’s user expectations with the reality of the user’s experience in a demanding legal environment.
That means DISCO actually delivers a discovery experience whereby lawyers and lit support specialists can search, review and produce documents much faster than before - through an interface that immediately feels familiar - and at far less cost than any other solution. It means getting access to key documents from your tablet outside the courtroom as you are preparing to go before a judge, or from your home in the late evening preparing for a deposition the next day is now the norm.
What excites me about DISCO is that we are finally bringing the promise of technology in line with the reality of what it can accomplish for lawyers and legal professionals. We are doing so in innovative ways that match the way the legal mind thinks and wants to work with the power of the latest technological capabilities at our fingertips. I’m grateful to be part of this amazing DISCO team, and I look forward to sharing the innovations and insights we are creating in our daily quest to meet and exceed your expectations.
